Abstract

        Introduction: Stroke according to the American Heart
Association(AHA) definition, is a sudden loss of brain function due to
disturbance in the cerebral blood supply with symptoms lasting at least 24
hours or leading to death

       Methodology: Descriptive (cross- sectional study ) was conduct
from (1-10-2018) to (15-5-2019) in order to assess Quality of life for
patient with stroke and relationship between demographic characteristic
and quality of life for patient with stroke it was chosen as a sample is
non- probability sample . composed of (50) patient diagnosis with stroke
and who meet the criteria of the study. Condition in the sample, including (
the absence of psychiatric illness, did not participate in earlier
educational program ,….etc.) , data were collected through a direct
interview. Questionnaire that was designed for this purpose. The
credibility of the questionnaire was determined through a committee of
(7) expert and stability was determined through pilot study. The results
were analyzed through application of statistical descriptive analysis
procedures using the SPSS program for version 20.

       Results of the study show that most sample of the study with age
group (60 years and more ) , majority was female and married , and that
there is allow commandment level of quality of life, and there is no effect
of demographic characteristic for quality of life for quality of life for
patient with stroke in Imam Al-Hussein medical city in Karbala.

       Recommendation; the study recommended the conducting more
further studies to explain the barrier that prevent achievement the high
commandment quality of life for patient with stroke . The study also
recommended to develop educational program for patient with stroke about
quality of life.
