Abstract

       Nursing is a message whose roots extend back centuries ago, where
many religious bodies have taken care of the teachings of religion to care for
the sick. Aims of this study is to assess the level of attitude of nursing students
towards nursing profession and To find the co-relationship between student’s
attitude towards nursing profession and some of their socio-demographic
data. Methodology: A descriptive analytical study was conducted to identify
Nursing college students attitudes toward the nursing profession in Kerbela
university. The study was initiated from 10, October 2017 to 15, April 2018.
Results: there was a major study's subject are partially satisfying about nursing
profession. Conclusions: 1- Revealed that the majority of study sample have
age between 20-22 years old, and female. In addition that the majority of study
sample have father live, and most of them were fathers are employed, and
almost all of study sample have mother live, and the majority of study sample
were mothers are housewife. In addition, that most of sample have sufficient
monthly income, and the majority of study sample are single. 2- Revealed that
the majority of study sample have partial satisfaction about nursing profession
and most of them have satisfied level about nursing profession. 3- There are
no significant relationship between socio-demographic characteristics and
attitudes excepts marital status and father job. Recommendations: 1.Change
the attitudes of nursing students about the profession through their inclusion
of financial and moral support. 2. Improve the community's view of the
nursing profession by granting special privileges to nurses. 3. Develop strict
laws that defend the rights of nurses. 4. Conducting other studies to determine
the reasons that led to the lack of desire in this profession. Key terms:
