Abstract
a descriptive study is conducted from December1st to April 22th , 2018
to assess level of depression among patients with renal failure undergoing
hemodialysis treatment .

A non-probability sample of 60 patients selected from hemodialysis
unit in AL-Hussian medial city in Kerbala. Data was selected through use
of questionnaire for assess level of depression. The questionnaire is
consist of two parts, and contain 30 items, first part consist of
demographic data include age, gender, educational level, family income,
occupation. Second part include depression scale and contain 21 items
.Reliability is determined using Alpha correlation (cronbach's Alpha) and
validity is achieved through panel of(7) expert . Data analysis through
using statistical package of social science (SPSS, Version 22).

The result of the study indicate that most of renal failure patient have
severe depression. And most of the sample was a female and their
age(40-60) years ,married , housewives , and primary level of education
.Most of the patients was suffer from renal failure before 3 years ago
only.

The study recommends to improve the psychological status of
patients through provide psychiatric nurse in hemodialysis unit for seek
of providing psychological and emotional support for patient and
improve chance for patient to change his psychological state by
recreational activities like visit religious places in Iraq.
