A master’s thesis in the College of Nursing discusses the relationship between health awareness and beliefs in anemia prevention behavior in pregnant women.

A master’s thesis at the College of Nursing, University of Karbala, for the student (Rasha Hussein Alawi), tagged “the relationship between health awareness and beliefs with the behavior of preventing anemia in pregnant women.” A study of a high rate of anemia in underdeveloped countries leads to increased morbidity and mortality among mothers. The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Salman Hussein Faris, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, and the membership by Assistant Professor Dr. Fatima Makki, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, and Professor Dr. Sajida Saadoun, Head of the Maternal and Newborn Branch, and Assistant Professor Dr. Wafaa Ahmed Amin Teaching at the College of Nursing at Babylon University and the scientific component of the thesis Assistant Professor Dr. Safi Dakhil Nawam, Head of the Fundamentals of Nursing Branch.
The study aims to assess the awareness of pregnant women and their health beliefs, and their relationship to preventive behavior. A descriptive, correlational study was conducted on 250 pregnant women at the Teaching Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology in the holy city of Karbala from February 1 to April 5, 2022. The credibility of the questionnaire was investigated through An empirical study and presented to experts to prove its reliability and validity. Data were collected using interview techniques and analyzed using the descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis approach.
The letter concluded with several recommendations and conclusions, the most important of which is a decrease in the prevalence of anemia due to women’s health awareness and health beliefs. Therefore, pregnant women need health awareness programs through social media in order to improve their preventive behavior.
The student was awarded a distinction, as the committee considered the student’s scientific efforts and the defense of her thesis.
