Karbala University discusses a master’s thesis on preventing viral hepatitis infection.

Discussed a master’s thesis at the College of Nursing at the University of Karbala, entitled “The effect of an educational program on the knowledge of the nursing staff and their attitude towards the prevention of hepatitis B infection in the Karbala Center for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery.” The thesis aims to prepare educational programs to improve the nursing staff’s knowledge and attitude about hepatitis B virus prevention, which will contribute to reducing the risk of infection. A quasi-experimental design of two groups (control and study) was used in this study to determine the effect of an educational program on the knowledge and attitude of the nursing staff towards the prevention of hepatitis B infection from November 1, 2021, to June 16, 2022. An appropriate sample of 60 has taken. A nurse working at the Karbala Center for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery, but some of them left school. The final sample consisted of 50 nurses divided into the study group (25 nurses) and the control group (25 nurses). The study concluded that both groups had a low level of knowledge and attitudes toward preventing hepatitis B infection in the pretest. The results of the implementation of the educational program showed an improvement in the level of knowledge and attitude of the study group regarding the prevention of hepatitis B infection. While the situation remained the same for the control group, the study recommends making more efforts to prepare appropriate educational programs to improve and update knowledge.
