Under the direct guidance of Prof. Dr. Ali Karim Al-Jubouri, Dean of the College of Nursing, the College of Nursing at the University of Karbala held an awareness-raising seminar on “the dangers of drugs” in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit and the Information Division. In order to educate students about the impact of drugs and their health risks on the individual and society, the symposium dealt with several axes, the most important of which are the health damages drugs and the psychological and mental damages of drugs. How can the dangers of narcotics be rectified and disposed of, as well as their economic damage to the individual, family, and society? The harms of drug abuse do not affect the drug addict but rather extend its effects to cause severe social and economic damage. The symposium concluded that the most severe damage to a drug addict is the occurrence of heart disorders and exposure to epileptic seizures, in addition to cirrhosis of the liver and disorders of the digestive system.
