The College of Nursing is organizing a workshop on obtaining programmatic accreditation for Iraqi nursing colleges.

 Under the auspices and supervision of Professor Dr. Ali Karim Khudair Al-Jubouri, Dean of the College of Nursing at Karbala University, and the follow-up of Assistant Professor Dr. Salman Hussein Faris, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies in the College of Nursing, in cooperation with the Division of Continuing Education. The College of Nursing organized a workshop entitled “Steps to Obtain Programmatic Accreditation for Iraqi Colleges of Nursing,” with the participation of several researchers and specialists. The workshop included a lecture by Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Abdullah Athbi, a member of the National Council for Accreditation of Nursing Colleges Programs in Iraq and Head of the Adult Nursing Branch at the college. The participants in the workshop dealt with many topics, including the definition of program accreditation for nursing colleges, the benefit of program accreditation, the basic steps to obtain program accreditation, how to prepare a self-evaluation report, as well as the importance of conducting awareness campaigns to introduce the concepts of accreditation and quality assurance for teachers, employees, students and beneficiaries of stakeholders in the labor market. The most critical committees to be formed to start the first steps in accreditation and the roles of those committees as well as data management and action plan. The lecturer at the workshop explained that the program accreditation of nursing colleges aims to ensure the quality of these programs and their suitability with the degree level granted and thus achieve the requirements and standards of quality and the usefulness of these programs with the needs of the labor market. Several heads of scientific branches, teachers, and employees of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Division participated in the workshop.
