Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Abdullah Athbi, Head of the Adult Nursing Department , participated in the discussion committee, as well as the membership of Prof. Dr. Khamis Bandar Obaid, Head of the Pediatric Nursing Department , and the teacher, Dr. Zaki Sabah Musaib, Head of the Basic Sciences Department , in the discussion committee for the master’s thesis for student (Miad Qahtan Musa) tagged “The Effectiveness of the Guidance Program On the parents’ knowledge towards the prevention of iron deposition complications among children with thalassemia,” which was held in the postgraduate hall at the College of Nursing. The thesis aims to find out the effectiveness of the counseling program on parental knowledge in preventing iron deposition complications in children with thalassemia. The study concluded that the first and second pretests in the study group, there is a significant difference in the main general areas related to parents’ knowledge towards the prevention of iron deposition complications among children with thalassemia. In addition, there is a statistical relationship between parents’ knowledge and educational level, and the study found that the counseling program can improve parents’ awareness about how to prevent complications of iron overload in children with thalassemia.
The study recommended that guidelines, posters, brochures, and guides aimed at preventing iron overload complications be available to all parents and encouraged to use them, and parents are encouraged to attend training courses and conferences led by professionals on the prevention of iron overload complications to maintain the new The thesis was accepted and the student received an excellent degree.
