Karbala University discusses master’s thesis on the impact of the educational program on the knowledge of midwives

A master’s thesis was discussed at the Karbala University Faculty of Nursing, entitled “Impact of the educational program on the knowledge of midwives in relation to the Lamaz method during labour”. The thesis for student Shirin Owiz Hassan, aimed to learn about non-pharmaceutical measures used by midwives (such as La Maz techniques) to facilitate women’s rest during labour and guidelines for the use of these measures are usually inadequate or absent, and the inclusion of knowledge in medical education is important in addressing the consequences of how to manage pain during labour. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the educational program on the knowledge of midwives in the Lamaz way. The study concluded that (83.3%) of midwives showed a lack of knowledge, and after the application of the educational program and the conduct of the after-test, midwives expressed good knowledge. (86.7%), the study recommended that there was an improvement in the knowledge of midwives after the post-post test of the pilot group due to the Lamaz method tutorial and the training of midwives staff through the implementation of such a training programme that actually helps to develop their knowledge.
