The College of Nursing at the University of Karbala organizes a workshop on addiction and its prevention

 Under the sponsorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Salman Hussein Fares Al-Guraiti, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Karbala, and the follow-up of Professor Dr. Ali Karim Khudair Al-Jubouri, Head of the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Branch, the College of Nursing at the University of Karbala organized a workshop on addiction with the participation of a number of researchers and specialists. The workshop aims to identify addiction, its causes, types, prevention, and develop information about the dangers of addiction, how to live with it, and drug treatment. The workshop, which was held under the title “Addiction, its Types, and Methods of Prevention,” included research into the causes of the recent spread of psychotropic substances and drugs among society, with Dr. Nada Abd Ali, one of the branch’s teachers, presenting. The researchers called for avoiding taking medications that contain addictive substances and focusing on preventing children and adolescents from taking medications that contain narcotic substances. Assistant Professor Dr. Salman Hussein Fares, Dean of the College of Nursing, said that drug addiction is one of the most serious problems facing the individual or society, as the harms of drug abuse do not only affect the drug addict, but rather their effects extend to cause social and economic damage.
