                                             Abstract

             Anemia is one of the most commonly encountered medical disorders during
       pregnancy. Health Organization (WHO), a according to the World hemoglobin
       (Hb) level below 11 g/dl in pregnant women constitutes anemia, and a Hb level
       below 7 g/dl is defined as severe anemia.1 The Center for disease Control and
       Prevention (CDC) defines anemia as having Hb level < 11 g/dl in the first
       and third trimester and < 10.5 g/dl in the second trimester.2 a serum ferritin level
       of 15 ?g/l is associated with iron deficiency anemia.3 Gestational anemia in
       pregnant women is a global health problem, which potentially leads to maternal
       and infant mortality and morbidity. It is associated with 40% of maternal deaths
       worldwide.4 maternal and neonatal deaths are a major cause of mortality in
       developing countries. Aims: of this study is to assess the awareness and health
       behaviors about anemia in pregnant women at al Ghadeer health care centre .
       Method: A descriptive quantitative study was carried out in order to achieve the
       early stated objectives.
       Result: pregnant women have moderate good practice or health behaviors for
       the prevention of anemia during pregnancy also we found that was moderate
       level of awareness of pregnant women about anemia and risks of it during
       pregnancy .

       Conclusion: most of the pregnant women who visit AL-Ghadeer primary health
       care Centre had little adequate awareness for the prevention of anemia.
       Regarding knowledge of pregnant women about causes of anemia, ways of
